Dry skin greets you in the morning with that "pulling" tightness when you look in the mirror. Sometimes flaky, sometimes matte and lifeless, and in winter it struggles even more. The good news: dry skin eases noticeably with the right approach. The essence of natural care for dry skin isn't complicated products, but restoring moisture and keeping it in.

Why does skin dry out?

The skin's outermost layer works like a thin barrier holding moisture in. Harsh soaps, very hot showers, dry air, and age weaken that barrier. When it's weak, skin loses water faster and dries. So the goal in dry-skin care is not to tire that barrier, but to nourish it.

Natural moisturizing for dry skin

Two steps matter with dry skin: first add moisture, then lock it in. Applying a care oil or a rich moisturizer while skin is still damp after a shower slows the moisture from evaporating. Cold-pressed plant oils (products with olive, avocado, shea) are good at softening dry skin, because they contain nourishing fatty acids compatible with the skin.

A daily routine for dry skin

• Use a gentle cleanser with lukewarm water; avoid very hot water and harsh soaps.
• Moisturize while skin is damp; don't wait for it to dry and tighten.
• Protect during the day, richer care at night.
• Be a bit more generous on quick-drying spots like hands, elbows, knees, and heels.

Support from within

Dry skin isn't solved by topical products alone. Drinking plenty of water and eating a balanced diet support the skin's moisture balance from inside. In heated rooms, raising the humidity (a small humidifier) also helps. Thinking of care as a whole gives the most lasting result for dry skin.
