Avocado Oil: Deep Lasting Moisture for Very Dry, Thirsty Skin
That buttery texture you feel when you scoop out an avocado is the fruit's rich oil content itself. Let us be clear from the start: we do not sell this oil on its own, in a single bottle. Avocado oil is only one of the cold-pressed plant oils blended with beeswax into the formulas of our Hand & Foot Care Cream, Heel Cream, Manicure Cream, Ayşe's multi-purpose Cream and the Hand & Nail Care Set, and it is also part of the blend in our 50 ml Moisturising Skin Care Oil.

The avocado tree originates in Central America, but its fruit has found a place in kitchens across the world and, more recently, on skincare shelves too. Unlike many other plant oils, avocado oil is pressed not from a seed but from the fruit's own flesh, which gives it an unusually rich, buttery consistency. Extracting oil from the flesh rather than a seed calls for a different, more delicate production chain, which makes avocado oil both a more specialised and a more valuable raw material.

Cold pressing matters here as well. Drawing oil from the flesh instead of a seed requires a different kind of care; done without heat, this process preserves most of the vitamins and fatty acids locked inside the avocado. A heat-treated, refined avocado oil loses much of that richness along the way.

What makes this oil special is that it is one of the rare botanical oils carrying vitamins A, D and E together. It is rich in oleic acid, with a dense, enveloping texture. It is one of the heavy hitters that step in where lighter oils fall short; where thin oils sit on the surface and evaporate, avocado oil sinks deep and stays there. Finding all three vitamins together is not common in nature, and that alone gives avocado oil its own category among plant oils.

Where it shines brightest is in the care of very dry skin. It helps skin that looks flaky, feels tight, and is starved of moisture feel deeply hydrated. It helps the fine lines of dryness on the backs of hands look less pronounced, an approach built around lasting softness rather than a quick fix that fades.

Heels cracked from summer sandals, joints stiffened by winter cold, shins that flake no matter what you try: these were the complaints we heard year after year across our thirty-eight years of hand and foot care, and avocado oil became one of our most trusted answers. This intensive care is not only a seasonal need either; ageing skin, hands that meet water constantly, and anyone working with harsh substances all benefit from this oil's generosity. When skin's own capacity to hold onto moisture weakens, this outside support makes a real difference.

At Ülker Sofuoğlu, avocado oil stands as the reassurance for our toughest dryness cases. Thirty-eight years of hands that have worked with chemicals, soil and water teach a craftsperson exactly which oil to trust when deep care is called for. Cold-pressed avocado oil carries that trust; refined, pale versions leave most of the fruit's generosity behind. The colour alone tells you which is which: deep green, natural and unrefined. This choice taught us to think in terms of results rather than cost; a cheaper alternative might look more appealing on the shelf, but it delivers far less value to the skin.

Think of the intensity this way: a light oil is like a glass of water handed to a thirsty plant, quick but short-lived relief. Avocado oil is a slow, deep watering that reaches all the way to the roots. Very dry skin, weather-beaten skin and skin that has grown fragile with age tend to love it especially. Despite its richness, when properly formulated, a cream containing avocado oil never feels sticky; blended in balance with beeswax and other oils, it sinks into skin and leaves only a soft, velvety feel behind. Striking that balance takes years of trial and hands-on experience.

A usage tip: once a week, apply your avocado-rich Heel Cream to your feet like a thick mask, leave it for fifteen minutes, then wipe away any excess with a soft cloth. This mini foot treatment offers your parched skin something like a small oasis break. For severe dryness, layering also works: apply your cream, wait two minutes, then apply a thin second coat to the driest spots. Twice-daily use pays off within days.

In the evening, applying this cream to your hands while skin is still slightly damp helps absorption; doing so right after a shower or after washing your hands is a good habit to build. An amount the size of a pea is usually enough for daily care, though you can be a little more generous on very dry areas.

A question we hear often is why avocado oil smells so deep and rich. This is a sign that the oil is unrefined, used in its raw state; carrying the fruit's own character, it holds far more nutrients than processed, deodorised versions. Some customers are surprised by this intense scent the first time, but soon come to associate it directly with quality and grow fond of the cream.

On storage: we recommend keeping your avocado cream in a cool spot away from direct sunlight, with the lid tightly closed. This helps preserve both the cream's rich consistency and its nourishing effect for longer; a drawer or cabinet is a better home for it than a warm bathroom shelf.

If your skin resembles parched, thirsty soil, avocado's green abundance may be exactly what you need; this oil's story reminds us that nature sometimes hides its most generous solutions inside the most ordinary-looking fruit. Every skin is different; we recommend testing a small area on the inside of your arm before you begin. If you would like to try avocado oil's deep moisturising character in our creams, we would be glad to welcome you at our shop.
